If you’ve got a Nokia Lumia and want wow your friends with a cool feature, then look no further than Nokia City Lens app.
This exclusive-to-Lumia app utilises augmented reality, which is a technology that overlays information on a specific area around you in real-time.
I’ve been using Nokia City Lens for a while now, and it’s impressive. It’s well designed, well featured, and most importantly it just works.
To use Nokia City Lens, just open the application from your home screen, chose what you’re looking for (such as restaurants, hotels, or just whatever is nearby), and start looking around.

The phone overlays what’s nearby over the video coming from the camera, and creates an augmented world right on your Lumia’s screen.
Last year was my first trip to Paris. Of course I wanted to see everything, and most things were very easy to find.
However, when I decided to go and see Notre Dame, I took a wrong turn and quickly got lost. I knew I was close, but the large buildings were blocking my view and I just didn’t know which direction to head in. This is a perfect example of a situation where Nokia City Lens would have saved that day.
If I’d had Nokia City Lens (and a Lumia) at that time, I could have quickly fired up the app, searched for Notre Dame, and instantly seen where it was.
I could have then used Nokia City Lens to direct me back to the nearest Metro station, or perhaps a nice restaurant for some dinner. That would have been amazing.
